Another short trip from Brisbane, Mt Maroon was really fun given the conditions and the variety of the terrain and vegetation.
Because of the rain there was a little bit of claggy mud down the entry section (car loved it too hmm), and a carefully placed foot was required in a gorge climb which is near the top, else a great rewarding easy day trip.
It’s 6.35km from the car park and 3 hours return. If camping at the walkers camp up the top you could spend time heading to the second summit – you could arrive late afternoon and achieve a lot before staying and rising to see the sun.
The top is wide and open after a slab section, and makes a great spot to sit and have some lunch and enjoy the surroundings.
